Project Period: November 2020 to June 2021
Computer training for women in Iraq, sponsored by the Schmitz Foundations.
In Iraq (Bartila und Baghdida), a Microsoft Office computer course was offered specifically for women aged 18-45. The lessons took place in small learning groups and were aimed at women who wanted to improve their chances on the labour market with the computer skills they had learned. A total of 81 women and girls participated and acquired skills in using computers and the internet. One of the biggest challenges was that the project took place in the middle of the Corona pandemic, which meant that the course was held in two cities.
One of the benefits of the course was that each participant was given their own laptop for the training. At the end of the course, there was an exam. If the participants passed the exam, they received a corresponding certificate. There was also a celebration with all participants at the end of the overall project.
