Distribution of food and hygiene packages in Homs with the help of the St. Ismael Foundation
For Syrian Christians, the administrative district of Homs is of utmost importance, as about half a million Christians still live here. In 2015, people here were subjected to several attacks by IS, including in Al-Quaryatayn, a town in Homs governorate. These attacks forced the people living there to flee to towns and villages that offer more security.
Despite the current calm security situation, people are struggling to survive due to the miserable conditions. There is a scarcity of basic necessities such as water, medical care and food. The situation is aggravated by the high cost of living and the lack of work.
This results in the urgency to ensure local support for these families. With the help of the St. Ismael Foundation, food and hygiene packages were provided to 488 families. These families were prevented from getting sick and were provided with food, which is currently very expensive. Among them were elderly people, people with disabilities, as well as women and children of all religions living there.
