Now that IS has been driven out of Mosul and the Nineveh Plains, IDPs are beginning to realise their return to their hometowns.
Families are starting to rebuild their homes and the rehabilitation of small businesses is bringing life back to the towns.
Syriac Cross and its partner organisation Beth Nahrain Organisation for Women are supporting both families and business people to make a quick return possible.
With our sponsors and donors, Shai Fund, Operation Blessing & Eagle Watch, we have been able to help ten families renovate their homes. We have also been able to support three small businesses with materials and renovation work. The businesses are a car repair shop, a hairdressing salon and a specialist shop for blacksmithing supplies.
There is still a lot to do!
We are still trying to raise funds to be a support for the people and to contribute to the reconstruction.
There is need in the following areas:
Reconstruction of houses
Reconstruction of small businesses
Reconstruction of kindergartens
Reconstruction of schools
School materials
Electricity / Energy
Water supply
Nursing homes for the elderly
Homes for the homeless
and much more.
Please contact us if you are interested in a topic area or have your own ideas for implementation.
