Since the liberation of the Nineveh Plain from IS, Syriac Cross and its local partner, Beth Nahrain Organisation for Women, have been focusing on rebuilding homes and micro-enterprises. With the support of Shai Fund, we were able to open a restaurant. This project is part of the sustainable business start-ups that Shai Fund is carrying out in the Nineveh Plain to support Christians who have fled from ISIS.
When families fled from ISIS in August 2014, they were unable to take their livelihood belongings with them. Many lefts behind businesses and land as they fled with little more than what they could carry. This project supports four families who now run the restaurant.
This business and livelihood support programme has helped minorities to establish a restaurant in their community of Bagdede – Nineveh Plains / Northiraq.
Syriac Cross and Beth Nahrain Organisation for Women are grateful to Shai Fund for realising this project.
