Fire at a wedding in Baghdede / Iraq
During a devastating fire at a wedding celebration in Baghdede, more than 150 people lost their lives, and many others were injured or deeply traumatized. The tragedy tore families apart and left the entire community in profound mourning.
In this difficult time, several donors — including the Ismael Foundation, the World Medical
Association of Syriacs, and We Are Christians — provided generous financial support to aid those affected by the disaster. Thanks to this solidarity, we were able to reach numerous families who urgently needed assistance after losing loved ones or suffering severe injuries.
The support included immediate financial aid to cover essential expenses such as medical treatments, medications, funeral costs, and daily living needs. Many families faced existential challenges in the aftermath of the catastrophe, having lost not only family members but often also the primary breadwinners.
Through our joint efforts, we were able to offer the affected families a measure of stability amid their pain and to show them that they are not alone in their suffering. The solidarity of all supporting organizations stood as a powerful expression of humanity toward a deeply affected community
