Christmas Celebrations in Turkey, in Iraq, in Lebanon and in Syria (2024)
At Suryoye Aid Network International (SANI), children’s well-being has always been a top priority, and Christmas holds a special place in our efforts. For the Suryoye community, gathering in church to celebrate Christmas is a cherished tradition—one that continues in their homelands despite ongoing challenges. Christmas is a time of joy, giving, and togetherness, and SANI is committed to making it memorable for children who face daily hardships.
Thanks to the generosity of the Suryoye in the Diaspora, SANI’s member organizations organized annual Christmas celebrations for children living in difficult conditions across multiple countries.
In 2024, SANI’s member organization in Lebanon hosted a special Christmas theater in Beirut and distributed gifts in Zahle, bringing joy and relief to children in need. Meanwhile, in Syria, local member organizations delivered gifts to children in Aleppo, Al-Hasakah, Al-Qamishli, and Derik (Al-Malikiyah).
Beyond Syria and Lebanon, SANI ensured that Santa Claus visited children in Iraq (Nineveh Plains) and Turkey (Tur Abdin), as well as children affected by earthquakes in Samandağ and Antakya.
Through these celebrations, SANI and its member organizations continue to bring hope, warmth, and joy, ensuring that Christmas remains a bright and uplifting time for the most vulnerable children in our community.
